Lavender Journal #0: The Start of a Dream

Last Christmas, me and my dad were talking about what I wanted to do with my life. I was feeling miserable at my office job, exhausted and for the first time in my life, I felt lost. I was determined to quit my job, but scared out of my mind, because I had no idea what to do with my life.

Dad asked: "If you had the means, what would you like to do?"

My own answer took me by surprise. Only weeks before, I would have never dared to utter these words. "Dad, I want to grow lavender."

We talked about it a bit longer and then he took his phone and called grandma. She lives 3h away from our home in the mountains, in the country side.

"Hello mom, do you have any unused terrain near home?"

Grandma said "Yes".

"That's it, you're all set. Grandma is waiting for you in a couple of weeks to check the terrain".

I couldn't believe my ears. This was actually going to happen.

I've been day dreaming about growing lavender for years now, ever since I found a lavender field in Bulgaria. And, I have been talking about it in previous years with my family, but somehow, until that moment, nobody took me serious. And now, in less than an hour, it was all set.

I was going to have my lavender field.

Here I am in Bulgaria, 2011, love struck with lavender.
