Do you remember those boring grammar and vocabulary lessons in school? Yawn! We’ve all been there. And if you are a course creator teaching new languages, you don’t want your emails to be just like that.
Think beyond just learning the language and imagine everything that comes with it – the culture, the literature, the society, the music, the shows, and more.
You want your students to unlock all of it, right?
This week’s blog post will show you how to do just that.
And by making this simple tweak to your emails, you can help your audience move beyond just memorizing vocabulary and inspire them to become lifelong learners. It’s like turning up the dial from boring classroom lessons to joining a fun-filled journey through culture and language.

Start with the big picture
Rather than focusing only on vocabulary and grammar lessons, start each email with the big picture of what learners will unlock when they know the language. Share interesting cultural facts, literature recommendations, music and shows from the target language, and more. By tapping into the broader benefits of language learning, learners will be more inspired to continue their language journey beyond just learning vocabulary and grammar.
If you’ve been teaching for a while, you might already have that content. Turn it into an email. Here’s an example:
2. Share personal stories
Share your own personal stories of how knowing the language has enriched your life. For example, share how knowing the language helped you to connect with a new friend or gain a deeper appreciation for a different culture.
Sharing these personal stories will help learners to see the bigger picture of why they are learning the language and inspire them to continue their own language learning journey.
3. Provide resources
Provide resources that learners can use to explore the culture, literature, society, music, and shows that come with knowing the language. Share articles, books, movies, music playlists, podcasts, and more. This will help learners to feel more connected to the language and inspire them to continue learning.
You might already be doing it. Like these two examples from course creators I’ve worked with:
If you have something like this, all you have to do is turn it into an email.
4. Ask for feedback
Ask learners to share their own personal stories of how learning the language has enriched their lives. This will not only help you to understand your audience better, but it will also create a sense of community and encourage learners to continue on their language learning journey.
If you’re a course creator who teaches languages, don’t just focus on vocabulary and grammar lessons in your emails. By tapping into the broader benefits of language learning – the culture, the literature, the society, the music, the shows, and more – you can inspire learners to become lifelong language learners.
Share personal stories, provide resources, and ask for feedback to create a sense of community and help learners to see the bigger picture of why they are learning the language. With these tips, you’ll be well on your way to creating engaging and effective email campaigns that inspire learners to unlock everything that comes with knowing a new language.
