Picture this: you set up a few simple rules and triggers, and your emails automatically send themselves to the right people at the perfect time. Not only that, but they’re doing the hard work for you, while you get to do more of what you love.
This is the beauty of email automation and in today’s video I’ll introduce you to one automation you need ASAP if you are selling any kind of digital products. (Watch the video here.)
Hi. Welcome to a new episode of Copywriting Confidential. My name is Monica, I am a sales email copywriter and copy coach helping thought leaders engage their audiences and enroll more students through non-spammy, non-salesy email marketing.
I’ve had my share of receiving and writing welcome sequences – but here’s the deal – there aren’t that many businesses using this powerful type of email automation.
At a minimum you’d have 3 emails, but you can go up to 7 emails over maximum 2 weeks, to new subscribers
Purpose: To welcome new subscribers and introduce your brand (and offer).
Process: This series of emails typically begins with a thank you message, followed by several emails spaced over a few days to a week, providing information about brand mission, social proof, USB and offers.
Benefits: Enhances new subscriber engagement and can transform subscribers into leads and buyers on autopilot. Not only that, but subscribers expect them.
Open rates are usually high.
There are a few different approaches to these emails, but the framework I use (and recommend) more often is something I learned from fellow copywriter Kyle Jordan. I actually interviewed him on the Art of Selling Online Courses podcast and he’s explaining his framework step-by-step. You’ll find the link in the video description. https://www.monicabadiu.com/2023/01/how-to-write-welcome-emails-that-engage-convert-subscribers-into-course-students/
Kyle recommends 7 emails, here’s the gist
Email 1 – Founder/Mission Story – Share the journey and mission to creating your course, product, or service. Let your subscribers know the “why” behind your business.
Email 2 – The Differentiation – Show your subscribers the secret sauce that makes your product different or better than all the other options.
Email 3 – Answer the big questions – Answer the most common or burning question you hear from your customers.
Email 4– Blow them away with results – Share your glowing testimonials. Or show proof that your product will deliver on its promise.
Email 5 – Blow them away with benefits (the price Justifier). – Share the long list of benefits that make your product or service’s cost seem like a drop in the bucket.
Email 6 – Going – start to create urgency by taking any discount, bonus, or freebie you’re offering off the table.
Email 7 – Gone – Remind your subscriber one last time that your welcome bonus or offer is about to disappear.
