You should be able to live a life that you’re obsessed with. In the world we live in today, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to have and create everything you want. We have more opportunities than ever. A huge part of that is your career. We spend such a large portion of our time and lives working, that choosing a career path you love is a no-brainer. Yet, when you’re not in a job that you like, it can be hard to see a way out or even know how to make a change. But if you know that you want to do something more fulfilling, it really is time to make that change. So, in this blog post, we’re going to dive into five ways you can create a career you love.
1. Know What You’re Passionate About
First of all, you’re going to want to drill down on your passions. If you know you want to be truly in love with what you do for work, doing something you enjoy is key. It might be a set cause that you want to support or a particular topic of interest you have, either way, you can create a career around it. Think about what sparks joy in you, what matches your skills, and go from there.
2. Get Experience
When you have an idea of what you’d like to do (or a few ideas to explore), you need to get some experience. This could be by volunteering, trying to get an internship, or even creating a side hustle in your spare time that enables you to gain some experience.
3. Aim for a Position That Inspires You
At this point, you can then start focusing on roles you like to try or apply for. Make sure that they inspire you. Ideally, you’ll also choose companies you admire, that align with your values, and that are hiring. A great example of this is the Royal Ambulance. They have recently put out a call that says become part of our critical care nursing team, to get more staff. If you know you want to help others, this could be great for you.
4. Focus on Growth and Progression
Above all, you’ll want to find something that enables you to progress. Being able to grow your career is important. It’s one of the ways that you’ll feel fulfilled, useful, and like you’re achieving something. Here, you can look to map out a bit of a career plan or set some goals you’d like to achieve.
5. Enjoy Yourself Along the Way
Finally, you absolutely need to make sure that you’re enjoying yourself too. When it comes to your career, you really don’t have to just turn up to work for the sake of it. You are in total control, and you get to choose a career path you enjoy. So, make sure that every part of it is something that you love. If there are parts of your career or company that you don’t like, don’t be afraid to make a change. It’s okay to want to naturally evolve and grow over time, and sometimes, career changes are inevitable. As long as you’re enjoying yourself along the way, you’ll be on track.1
